Very usefull...

A very interesting missing feature is the port description ....

I have over 50 3750's in my network and we use the portdescription very often.

When this could be added to your report ...

If, like I have, you have 50 switches, and import of the IP-addresses login password and description form a text file; csv-file could also be very usefull i.o. entering all the info in the GUI...

Or the possibility to scan a ip-range ?

Hi Karl, not sure what would be the best solution to this but we will have a look for a solution. To make the application easier to manage we have put all the settings into an INI file called switchwatch.ini, it resides in the same folder as the exe.  If you are comfortable working with ini files you can just add one switch via the gui then replicate it in the ini file just changing the IP address of each switch, the password is encrypted so this would only really work if all your switches have the same login details,  just take a copy of the original first in case of problems.
Thanks We3Soft

After using the full version on our network, I still believe it's a great tool, I have found lot's of ports (and money !!)

Some requests/features/....

1. Open folder
- It would be great to have a button 'open log folder' on your menu

2. Logfiles
- For better visibility, it would be nice to have the hostname and IP-address in the filename.
- For better visibility, it would be nice to have the following info in the logfile
   - the output of the 'sh snmp contact' and the 'sh snmp location'
- A summary in the logfiles of
the total interfaces in the switch (stack)
   the total number of interfaces
the number of free interfaces (disabled)
   the number of unused interface
- The uptime of the switches (nice to know if you look at the time a port is not used)

=> keep in mind there can be different switches in a stack

3. After running a collect it would be great to see what you have won running this program:
   You have x % unused ports !!!!

4. global config
- A nice feature would be a setting to have only FastEthernet ports scanned, to have only GigabitEthernet ports scanned, to have both scanned etc ...

If you guys need more info a some show commands of stacks etc ... just contact me !!!!

Karl

Most of those sound like good ideas, we will have a think about the best way to implement them and let you know if we need some examples of your outputs

Thanks

There a few things that would be usefull for me. Last used can be a little misleading. A port may not see traffic because it's a backup link. I would like to see the data summarized by: never, not connected, not used for over xx days. It would also be usefull to have the count by interface type: 10/100, 10/100/1000 and later TenGig. This would allow unused ports to be recalimed, and capacity to be managed by interface type. Steve

hi Steve, thanks for the feedback.

We are currently working on version 2, this has got a lot more reporting options, i think the count by interface type is a good idea we'll probably look at putting that in.
