I'm a senior level network administrator and this software works great so far!  I have a couple Cisco Catalyst 3560 POE switches in my home and it is right on the money in the information it provided.  Makes the show interface command line much more simplified for quick reading and results without having to telnet or console into the switch by using this software.  It even reads correctly the two Dot11Radio interfaces and Ethernet ports on my Cisco 1242 WAP when added as a 'switch'.  One feature that I can think of that would be helpful to some would be a report that tells you what ports are actively serving POE.  This is helpful when seeking out what ports a WAP or other POE device may be plugged into to aide in port labeling or data monitoring.  Also depending on how detailed you intend to make this application, perhaps a report that will go out and grab data statistics for each port to show in/out data transfer.  This does not work with my Checkpoint Safe@Office 500w VPN hardware firewall, but I read the software is mainly for Cisco devices so doesn't surprise me Wink.  It does however pick up and correctly read a Cisco Pix firewall.

Hi Mavischild, thanks for the positive feedback, ill add you to the list for a free licence.

We are looking at adding extra reports to the software, such as detailed port stats and POE info, but we want to get the core functionality tested first before we start adding these.

If it seems to work ok on a 1242 WAP and a pix ill add that to the list of tested hardware. Ultimately we would like the software to work with more than just Cisco kit, so if you try it on something and it doesn't work, please tick the box in the software that says 'log conversation' (in the switch setup window) and it will output the conversation to a file. If you can upload that onto this forum we can see if there is enough info in the conversation to add support for that hardware.

This is a great idea! I've always had to 'guess' which ports weren't being used, only to find I'd unplugged something like a special printer that's turned off for 29 out of 31 days a month. Can't believe no one's thought of it before, I'll be trying it out tomorrow and will report back! Good work all!
